Script Draft 5 ‘open season’
Well I have now finished draft 5 of the script and I think we are nearly there. It’s looking good and hope to get some feedback here soon.
Brief excerpt from the intro of ‘open season’ below:
EXT. FORREST, NEXT TO THE ROAD – DUSK
We see a car kangaroo hop to a stop. A man in his mid twenties exits the vehicle, he runs around to the front of the car and opens the bonnet. We can see he has no idea what to do, and he is in an obvious panic.
CUT TO:
INT. CAR – DUSK
In the car sits a pretty blonde girl, she is chewing her gum irritatingly loud, she keeps looking out the back window. She looks out towards the bonnet of the car and shouts.
LESLIE
(rushed in her voice)
John what are you doing? Come on?
EXT. FORREST, NEXT TO THE ROAD – DUSK
JOHN
Errr….
As John goes to look up he hits his head on the bonnet of the car. He reaches to the back of his head, he is in a lot of pain and blood is seen on his hands.
JOHN (CONT’D)
(stressed)
FUCK IT!!!
LESLIE
What?
JOHN
Its the errr….carbereeeter! Give me a sec….
John looks into the engine again looking for a simple solution to something he has no idea about. Still looking panicked.
LESLIE
JOHN..come on….
Leslie reaches for the horn and presses it.
(BEEEEP)
as Leslie presses the horn John jumps and…. bang… the bonnet of the car crashes down on him.
CUT TO:
INT. CAR – DUST
The car starts
LESLIE
Great…now come on lets go.
Leslie sits and waits for a few seconds. She cant see John out of the front window, so she hits the screen jets and wipers.
Blood smears all over the windscreen. Leslie screams and exits the car.
EXT. FORREST NIGHT, NEXT TO THE ROAD
LESLIE
(She says hesitantly)
John
She moves like a sloth in heels towards the front of the car.
LESLIE
(hesitantly)
You….O…O…O…ok?
Leslie sees john’s lifeless body trembling to the rhythm of the engine.
She screams and looks up to see a cars headlights approaching in the distance, she turns and runs.
Car lights approach.
CUT TO:
INT. CAR – DUSK
ALL IN CLOSE UP
A man is smoking a large cigar. He has a silver cross hanging on his rear view mirror. He reaches for the radio and turns to a classical music station.
BACK TO:
EXT. FORREST, COUNTRY LANE – DUSK
We see the car getting closer to Leslie.
CUT TO:
CLOSE UP ON LESLIE’S FACE – LIGHT ON HER FACE. THE LIGHT FILLS THE SCREEN.

Excellent, lovely comic moments with a building undercurrent of real fear and panic – I love the cigar, silver cross, classical music man – ominous, yet a potential saviour!
